Phantom FM interview
hello!
Just back from doing a really nice little interview on Phantom FM. It was our first time in Phantom studios so we got a bit lost on our way there. I was distracted by a strange glittering building on the docks ( if anyone knows what it is please let me know ) its like a mini disco block. Also on the way we passed by some guy doing some very impressive bike hopping maneouvers down by the steps near Christchurch. It was pretty cool!
We were on the Icon show with Cathal Funge. We sang two songs and had a little chat. We did Easy as it flows and Take me Higher. Hopefully we’ll get a podcast of it next week to post!
Leinster Leader Article

LEINSTER LEADER – MARCH 4th
Notoriously difficult to please, The Sunday Times album reviewer gave U2′s latest release a meagre two star rating. Right alongside that review, another Irish band was before the critics with their debut album. They got FOUR stars. That band is the Naas based Carosel.
Riding on the crest of a wave following the launch of their debut album Kaleidoscope, Carosel are getting rave reviews just about everywhere you look and the strikingly pretty lead singer’s honeyed voice sings out from every radio and TV channel.
They are the band everyone is talking about and it is no wonder. Their music washes over you; refreshingly upbeat in the middle of all this doom and gloom. This is a real feel-good album, warm, upbeat and distinctive.
Lead singer and co-songwriter Michelle Phelan is from Lakelands in Naas. She is the type of person who sounds as though she is smiling all the time and her mellow, sunny vibe comes across in the songs she writes with Dubliner (and boyfriend) Pete Mc Grane.
Between them, they have produced an absolute treasure in Kaleidoscope. Pop it into your CD player and the mix of pop, jazz, soul, bossa nova and flamenco will lift your spirits. Carosel launched Kaleidoscope in Whelan’s, Dublin this week. Dont be surprised if you hear a lot more from these rising stars.
Kaleidoscope Out Now!
Our Debut album Kaleidoscope is out now nationwide in HMV, Tower Records, Top Twenty and all leading digital sites including ITUNES, 7Digital, CD Baby etc…….
Whelans – Review
News of the World ****
Cool lounge duo Carosel launched their debut album Kaleidoscope at Whelan’s in Dublin on Thursday. Sultry vocalist Michelle Phelan, dressed in red, was on sparkling form as surrounded by fairylights she captivated the packed upstairs venue.
Phelan’s voice and Pete McGrane’s excellent Spanish guitar in a live setting gave the songs a much more organic atmosphere than the album offers. That said, this unashamedly upbeat and polished record with catchy feel good anthems, Easy as it flows and Home, will be the sound of the summer for many.

Album Review – The Star
The Star
Album Review – Feb 27th
Dublin-based duo Michelle Phelan and Pete Mc Grane debut with a mature 10-track set that steers clear of current trends and effortlessly blends folk pop, jazz, lounge music and bossa nova.
They’ve been together since the guitarist sweet-talked his girlfriend into joining him onstage in 2007 and have played at the likes of Electric Picnic and the Cork Jazz Festival.
Phelan’s striking vocals add a sunny disposition to Mc Grane’s cheerful array of melodious songs, so the album has a feel-good factor of 10.
Awash with flamenco guitars, this collection is retro – but not in a Duffy pastiche way. It’s simply a young couple celebrating the classic pop song and giving it a new home in the 21st century.
